Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
